1.1 Critically compare the profiles of two chosen musical styles analyzing contrasts in:
a) cultural and historical influences
b) audience expectations and perceptions
c) technological developments
d) media representations

Choose two contrasting music styles that interest you.

Investigate the era in terms of fashion, politics, art, social and economic factors, technology (in music production particularly) etc.

Presentation

1.2 Explain the main musical elements of each style identified in 1.1, illustrating the importance of the following, where appropriate:
a) instrumentation (texture/timbre)
b) structure
c) rhythm
d) melody
e) lyrical content
f) use of technology
g) production

You will make reference to at least four recorded examples

Elements of Music in Context blog or vlog with entries for a) to g) giving examples across a variety of styles

Identify the common musical elements that give the styles their characteristic features making reference to at least four examples from each genre

Report

1.3 Evaluate personal response to each style identified in 1.1 in terms of, where applicable:
a) relationship to own musical output
b) relationship to own image/lifestyle
c) relationship to personal music taste

What is my musical taste?

What kind of music do I like to perform?

How does the music I like reflect or inform my image/lifestyle?

What links are there between this and the styles studied?

Why do I chose these songs and why do they contrast? I chose these songs because they have two new tequniques, I've never really played before in my songs. For example strumming and slapping and hitting a string with one finger to produce a sound. What aspects of your performing and musical skills are you most proud of? I am most proud of my concentration when I play the guitar, because when I do a mistake or when I am in front of an audience I just continue playing. In what aspects in musical and performing skills do you want to improve further? Combine instruments, so singing whilst playing.

Performance Evaluation 1st November 2017

Evaluation Formula I played the guitar and played the song ,,numb'' by Linking Park. It was a Solo. What went well was that I played almost fluently. My timing was okay. I just messed up one bit at 0:53 because my hand were trembling.  What I am the most happy with is that is remembering the song. I`m not so happy with my performance because I couldn't show the expression which I normally play in this song. I looked on the guitar the whole time but I think it was a good experience. I also think I was to much into it in learning the because it made me more nervous, before I had the performance. Before I will have my next performance i will improve my stage presence and make eye contact with the audience more. i also would like to build up more confidence in order to sing whilst accompanying myself.
